Beaches and Huckleberry Pickin’

One of my goals for 2013 is to try things I don’t normally do.  This past weekend was exactly what I needed. It was a weekend of “firsts. ” It started out eating at a Gramercy Park Pizza and Grill Saturday night with Tony’s coworker and his awesome wife. They are such a great couple!

We spontaneously decided to head up to McCall on Sunday and play. 🙂 First grabbing coffee at Mountain Java. I am a sucker for new coffee shops and I got a great iced coffee.

We decided to rent a tandem kayak from Gravity Sports. It was about $35 for 4 hours. Shayne (my brother) and Flint (my cousin’s husband) paddled the kayak from the McCall marina to a beach site in Ponderosa State Park. They made it, despite complaints of shoulder pain.

Ponderosa State Park is a great place to camp, hike, and play on Lake McCall. The park is developed with restrooms, cabins for rent, as well as places to put up a tent and start a campfire. It does cost  to get into this park ($5), but you are within 10 minutes of the city. Read the rest of this entry
